Avatar re-invented the 3D market, the world’s biggest film has whipped up the film industry and now it’s heading in a new direction. Now that High-Definition technology is in the home, it’s a whole new genre. Out with the old 28” beast TV, in with a super slim, LED or Plasma 3D smart TV! There’s already a multitude of high quality 3D Blu-ray films for home entertainment, and cinema listings from the box office kings like Pixar, DreamWorks, Disney, Warner, Fox, Sony et al is impressive for the next few years. There’s plenty coming, see Cinema and 3D Blu-ray.

Quite clearly the old 3D image needs wiping away. Technical advances enable us to watch 3D at home in full High Definition. Watch Toy Story 3, it’s very impressive. The prices of 3D TV’s is becoming much more accessible, with 42” TV’s coming in less than £600. You have to admit that so far the best 3D films are the animations. But with film camera technology advances, 3D Digital camera systems will be used more for real world filming. We need to be patient.
Over the forthcoming years, 2012-2015, we’ll see where this is going. New 3D technologies are being unveiled all over the world, like glasses free TV’s. Lots of new films on slate for the next 3 years. Patience is in the eye of the beholder (polar-eyes in this case), and we the audience need to embrace what Hollywood is doing, after all, it’s for our entertainment. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but we are billions and everyone is different. Right.
Bring it on Pixar and DreamWorks!
